“Water Dance” Rail

The original shape for this rail was a spiral.  After consulting with the clients about the costs of forming to a decreasing radius we were asked to design the stair case and floor opening using set radii.  We built the steel staircase and rail parts together in our studio.  The staircase was lowered into place with a crane prior to completion of the roof.  The staircase was wrapped in drywall and wood.  The cap of the rail is polished stainless pipe.  The posts are powder coated steel with custom machined cap attachment and stainless glass clips.  For the glass we worked with the company Ultraglas.  Each panel is cast for texture and tempered.
